Aishwarya is going places these days. The jinx named 'Salman' is over and she is getting all the plum offers since then. After bagging Gurinder Chadha's prestigious 'Bride and Prejudice' she landed up in the role of 'chhoti maalkin' in modern day remake of 1962 classic 'Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam'.
Produced by Pritish Nandy Communications, this all time gem from Guru Dutt will be recreated by Deepa Mehta. Nandy zeroed on her name after considering a lot of other names including Rituparno Ghosh and Shaad Ali. It is heard that Salman almost bagged the pivotal role of Bhootnath but he had to bite the bullet due to his estranged ex-girlfriend.
The role, immortalised by Meena Kumari, potrays a decaying woman and Mehta has immenese faith that Aishwarya will be doing the equal justice to the role. The rest of the cast is yet to be decided. "I don't know what kind of a 'Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam' I'd make. "But it will be 'my' film, not Guru Dutt's", she adds.
