Ranbir Kapoor and Ram Gopal varma are finally coming together for Romancing The Stone remake in which Michael Douglas played the lead role.

Confirming the news, Ramu told a news daily, "We have met and ‘Romancing The Stone' was one of the ideas that we exchanged. Ranbir seemed enthusiastic about it. But it won`t exactly be like ‘Romancing The Stone'. Only the core of its idea will be taken."

Romancing the stone is a story of a writer of romantic novels, Joan Wilder travels to south America to look for and rescue her kidnapped sister. She finds herself stranded in the jungles and finds help in the form of the soldier of fortune Jack Colton. The two go through a number of adventures, deal with the bad guys and end up falling in love.

Interestingly, Ramu was to earlier adapt another Robert Zemeckis film Back To The Future based on the theory of time travel with Shah Rukh in the lead.
