What started out to be a small family affair, ended up as the wedding of the decade. Yes, the blue-eyed beauty of the Bollywood is happily married now. But the good part is, her last name remains unchanged, courtsey: Sunjay Kapoor, a business man from Delhi and Lolo's long time friend.
In typical Kapoor tradition, Karisma was married at her grandfather, the late Raj Kapoor's home, R K Cottage. The couple chose to solemnise the wedding by a ceremony performed according to Sikh rites.
Sunjay arrived at the venue at 12.45 pm and rushed inside the cottage's gates. The pheras finally took place at 1 pm in the presence of both families.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sunjay is the brother of Superna Motwane and Mandira Kapur, Karisma's old friends. Their late grandfather Raunaq Singh set up the Apollo Tyres empire. Sunjay is Managing Director, Sona Koya Steering, part of the Sona Group which his father Surinder Kapur runs.
People thronged the R K Cottage just to have the glimpse of their favourite stars, who arrived in droves to wish the newly wed couple. Though the Bachchans opted to stay away from the event, several others didn't let the curious onlookers down in anyway.
Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Govinda, Rakesh Roshan, Vinod Khanna, Jeetendra, Govinda, Amrish Puri, Rahul and Akshaye Khanna, Simi Garewal, Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, you name it and they were there.
Despite all those glittering personalities around, it was Lolo who hogged all the limelight. The bride made a brief appearance before the media in a light pink lehnga whilst the groom looked classy in an off white safa, cream sherwani and gold sehra.
Yesterday evening, the couple left for Italy, then on to Spain and other European countries followed by three-day cruise in the Mediterranean Sea.
While our best wishes goes for Lolo and Sunjay, our heart goes out for Bachchan junior, who missed the opportunity of having her as his better half. Tough luck Abhishek, some things are not meant to be!
