'I Proud To Be An Indian' is a Sohail Khan production, directed by UK-based director Puneet Sira. Shot at a cost of just over $1 million, it attempts to capture the period when the racial campaign headed by the self-proclaimed tribe called the 'skinheads' dominated the scene.

While the title is true to Bollywood's frequent patriotic tone, the movie also shows immigrants from rivals India and Pakistan coming together to fight racism.

"I don't have a name in this film. I am I. I is the first alphabet of India and I has also the Indian flag in its graphics." says Sohail Khan who has also written the film. Two Pakistani-born actors who immigrated to the West, Hina and Imran Ahmed co-star him.

It's a story of I (Sohail Khan), who is forced to migrate to London with his father (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), to stay with his older brother (Asif Sheikh) and his family as they had migrated few years ago.

In London, I starts to discover, that the middle class Asian families are living a very frightened life, due to some local white outlaws, who are a pack of skinheads.

The dreaded Cane (Tim Lawrence) who is 6ft 4in is the leader of the skinheads. Cane along with his cronies believes that their country England is being taken over by the Asian community and hate any other skin color other than white.

I has to stand up for the Asians and fight for their rights. I beats up some of the skinheads and Cane comes to know about that. Cane sends more skinheads to retaliate and the problem becomes bigger.

Cane has his own troubles too. Sergeant Grant, a strict officer, considers Cane and his ilk menace to the society and gives him a stern warning to stay away from I. Reluctant Cane start searching for some one to who would hate the Indian boy as much as he does and he gets the answer in the name of a Pakistani boy Aslam (Imran Ali Khan).

Aslam goes to make an attempt on I's life, but as fate would seem, it so turns out that they end up becoming best of friends.

Now, I challenges Cane to fight with him on his land, the streets of London. The fight is set. If Cane stands, the Asians will walk out of their land and if I stands tall, the skinheads would never come in the way of the Asian community.

Thus begins the climax in the form of the fight between I, who represents the sentiments and emotions of the Asians and Cane, who represents the so-called wicked liberators of England.

In the fight between the good and the evil, good always triumphs over the evil. Similarly in the nail biting fight, I triumphs over the evil Cane and makes all the Asians proud. 'I Proud To Be An Indian' has been shot in the UK and slated to release on the Republic Day – January 26.
