Shekhar Suman is set to produce a film for his son, Adhyayan. If sources are to be believed, it will be inspired by the 2007 Hollywood
film, ‘Awake'.
The duo won't be playing father and son, but doctor and patient. Shekhar will play a surgeon and Adhyayan, a
heart patient who becomes conscious during surgery despite anesthesia, a condition termed as ‘anesthetic awareness.'
According to sources, Shekhar and Adhyayan were supposed to do Anand Mahendroo's ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh' together. However, due to
Mahendroo's cardiac arrest, it got postponed for later. Their film will be directed by Rohit Jugaraj, who is currently scripting ‘The Italian
Job' for Abbas-Mustan, and will focus on Shekhar's film once it's done.
The film is being scripted by Shekhar who asserts that he didn't want to play Adhyayan's father in the movie because it's so common.
He thinks it would be nicer if they played two different characters altogether, like Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan did in ‘Bunty Aur
Babli'.
Though Shekhar was supposed to direct the film at first, he decided to concentrate more on acting with Adhyayan. He believes that
last year was terrible for his son as despite being the romantic lead in ‘Raaz 2', a hit film, he was more in the news for his girlfriend,
Kangana Ranaut.
Interestingly, Kangana was supposed to be playing the female lead in the Shekhar's version of ‘Awake', but
the search is on for a new girl now.
