Jaago Mehul Kumar Jaago...
You had an utterly sensitive issue like child molestation on your hands and yet you deal it with such a puerility where clichés galore. Instead of evoking the concern about this heinous crime you make it a cop-versus-system saga.
So loud and sometimes even jarring, ‘Jaago', tries to recreate the shocking real-life rape of a disabled girl in a moving train in Mumbai where onlookers were dumbstruck when confronted with a brazen psychotic.
Hansika Motwani plays Shruti, a hapless girl who goes through the immense ordeal when three young men force themselves upon her in train way past midnight. She succumbs to the injuries and dies in front of her parents Shrikant (Sanjay Kapoor) and Shraddha (Raveena Tandon).
An honest cop Kripa Shankar (Manoj Bajpai), is given the case to bring guilty to the book. That is where the realism takes a back seat and Mehul's creativity (??) comes into play.
The culprits have an influential connection and their rivalry with Kripa Shankar runs deep. A few hard hitting dialogues are delivered before the genius cop devises an ingenious plan to net the guilty. He asks the mother (Raveena) to dress up provocatively and take the journey till the three pounce on her.
To everyone's amazement, the trio is right on time for action. The parents decide to avenge the despicable crime by themselves followed by some Dishum.... Dishum.... and the justice prevails in the end.
Bajpai's power packed performances as a lone crusader fails to save this song less, half-baked script of Kumar. As a result, 'Jaago' is destined to doom at the box office.
Please, someone wake up Mehul from his slumber and tell that 'Krantiveer' days are way over.
