It is not uncommon for him to be thrashed by film heroes on the silver screen but this time it was for real as Shakti Kapoor, Bollywood's one of the best known villain, was bashed up by two friends following a late Tuesday night brawl.

Kapoor, who had landed in Kolkata for a film shoot, was assaulted by two of his accomplices in the early hours of Tuesday after they had an argument following dinner.

Confirming the incident the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division) Anuj Sharma said that following a complaint by Kapoor the two assailants, who are owners of city-based video-parlour have been arrested.

He said that the arrests were made after the actor filed the complaint with the Bhowanipore police station following the incident within the premises of the hotel where Kapoor was staying.

The assailants, however, had been bailed out later as the arrests were made under bailable sections for voluntarily hurting and wrongfully restraining Kapoor, he said adding that "the investigation is on".

The hotel authority when contacted, however, refused to say anything about the incident simply saying that the actor has already checked out. Kapoor, who has left the city, was here in connection with the shooting of a Bengali film.
