Since then, he has continuously set a new benchmark with each of his films. The multitalented personality is none other than Farhan Akhtar who is all geared up to see the outcome of his latest release, 'Karthik Calling Karthik'.
The film 'Karthik Calling Karthik' is a suspense thriller in which he will be seen displaying his acting talent along with gorgeous Deepika Padukone. Till now, Farhan Akhtar has lived upto the expectation of his fans but his latest release 'Karthik Calling Karthik' will be a kind of litmus test for him.
Farhan Akhtar in a candid interview hearts out his working experience with Deepika, music of the film and intimated scene.
Karthik Calling Karthik is your third film as an actor, how easy was the transition from direction to acting?
It was not easy for me, but the kind of films, which I have done so far, excited me. Besides that, I have worked with a new bunch of talented individuals who have new ideas and also very clear in their approach.
What is your character in Karthik Calling Karthik?
I play the character of Karthik who is a reserved guy but when his girlfriend (Deepika) comes in his life, he gains confidence. But one phone call turns his life upside down.
You are also good singer, why you ignored taking up mike in this film?
I don't think Karthik Calling Karthik needed my singing. If I would have sung in it, it would have been completely opposite to the character of Karthik.
In Rock On, singing was an integral part of the film. But you can see me singing in my next film 'Running with the Bulls'.
Directing, singing, and acting you have done everything, but what is that one thing that fascinates you more?
I enjoy everything. That is why, I am doing all of them. All of them are serving the common purpose of making the film. But I make sure that I do one thing at one time. So if I am acting, I will not direct. If I am directing, I will not act.
How was the experience working with the gorgeous Deepika Padukone?
Working with her has been a wonderful experience. She is a very sweet girl. Hard work and professionalism are integral facets of her persona. I have to applaud her because she completely is a director's actor. So it is easy to handle her and deal with her.
In all three of your films, you have worked with new directors. Could you elucidate about the process of working with them ?
It is pure coincidence that all the three films of mine have been directed by debutants. But they definitely taught me some precious facts. Irrespective of the number of films you have directed, you always need to have the fire in your belly for each of your projects. Vijay Lalwani has also brought the same kind of fire and passion in 'Karthik Calling Karthik'.
How difficult was it to convince your wife that you had a few intimate scenes with Deepika in Karthik Calling Karthik? Was the comfort level adequate ?
It wasn't cumbersome as we share a great relationship with each other and she understands that such sequences are intrinsic ingredients of my profession.
Otherwise, it would have been a struggle for me to go ahead with those intimate scenes. Actually, I and Deepika thoroughly grasped the actual nature of those scenes before shooting those intimate scenes.
We accepted the necessity of those scenes and understood the context in which those scenes had to be filmed. There is a sufficient comfort zone between us. Therefore, we could execute those scenes.
Moreover, we shot the scene in the presence of people with whom we were comfortable.
'Uff Teri Adaa' is a chart buster. What are your standpoints on the musical personality of the film ?
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have never let down anyone. Again, they have come up with spectacular music. Whenever they compose music, they come up with fresh tunes. That is why there are so successful.
Moreover, they excellently understand the director's personality with whom they work. The album has diverse songs, which make the album complete.
