A local court on Thursday provided temporary relief to actor Sunny Deol till June 17 by granting him transit bail in a case of cheque bouncing filed by a film distributor against him in Bihar.
Sessions judge VL Achalya ordered that in the event of Bihar police arresting Deol in Mumbai, he should be released on cash or bond of Rs 10,000.
On a plea made by Deol's lawyer Majeed Memon, the court provided this relief to the actor till June 17 and asked him to go to Bihar thereafter to obtain regular bail from the court which is hearing the complaint.
Deol pleaded for anticipatory bail saying he had learnt from newspapers about Hajipur police obtaining non-bailable warrant for his arrest from Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court in Bihar on a complaint filed by distributor Arvind Kumar of M/S BS Films Pvt Ltd.
Deol and Arvind had entered into a deal of distributing films for which the actor was to pay Rs 20 lakhs to the latter. He issued two cheques of which one amounting to Rs seven lakhs was encashed. The other one bounced. Being aggrieved, the distributor filed a case against the actor.
