Barely recuperated from the failure of 'Rudraksh', Mani Shankar is back with his new film Tango Charile. Don't call it a war film, Mani doesn't like it. According to him, it is a story of uncelebrated soldiers who lay down their lives for their nation.
Tarun Chauhan (Bobby Deol) is one such soldier lying wounded and struggling for life in snowbound Kargil heights
Squadron Leader Vikram Rathore (Sanjay Dutt) and Flight Lieutenant Shezad Khan (Suniel Shetty) chance to see him decide to save him despite a no-go from the Headquarters due to hostile weather conditions.
In process of lending a benevolent hand to the sepoy, the two come across his personal diary, which opens a whole new chapter about his life and struggle.
It is replete with the instances of his transformation from an ordinary man to a soldier, his love Lachchi (Tanishaa) and his mentor Havaldar Mohammed Ali (Ajay Devgan).
Through Tarun's memoirs, Tango Charlie takes an insightful look at the life of soldier, who considers his nation supreme irrespective of his caste creed and religion.
It also highlights the brutalities of war and amidst the sacrifice of various unnamed soldiers, who chose to die for their country anonymously.
