With the grand finale of its popular dance reality series Lux Dance India Dance barely a week away, Zee TV re-created the magic of the show through a world-class dance carnival at Worli Sea Face, Mumbai on Sunday.
Presenting India with its first experience of an authentic dance carnival, Zee TV's marathon was a riot of colours, an opulent extravaganza of dance ... a celebration of the joyous spirit of Mumbai.
With an interesting mélange of stilt-walkers, lezim troupes and tattoo artists, the crowd was encouraged to groove to some Hip-Hop, try their hand at Ballet, do the Dandiya and sashay to the beats of Salsa.
All this while, professional dancers dressed in vibrant carnival costumes swayed to the tunes of Broadway, Lavni, Cha Cha Cha and Pasa Doble on ornately decorated floats.
Crowd frenzy was at its peak when everybody's favorite dance masters Remo D'souza, Geeta Kapoor & Terence Lewis flagged off the carnival in the presence of the local MLA Sachinbhau Ahir.
Special security had to cordon off the mob as fans began flocking the trio.
The popular top 4 finalists of the season - Shakti Mohan, Dharmesh Yelande, Punit Pathak & Binny Sharma waved out to cheering fans from atop floats as the resplendent parade proceeded to Worli Sports Ground.
The culmination of the parade was a medley of performances by the contestants of the show.
The dance marathon delivered a potent message to the citizens of Mumbai through signages and posters that read "Dance your way to a healthy life".
Akash Chawla, Marketing Head, Zee TV said, "The carnival was just our way of letting the audience experience the show in person on the streets of Mumbai when the excitement around the show is at its peak. Moreover, the concept of giving India a taste of what a real dance carnival is, is an immensely exciting proposition. We're extremely glad that the carnival received an overwhelming response from Mumbai and was a grand success."
The 2 NGO's involved in organizing the marathon alongside Zee TV were the Lions Club of Swami Samarthnagar Oshiwara- Lokhandwala and the Shri Sankalp Pratishtan, Worli managed by local MLA Sachin Ahir & wife Sangeeta Ahir.
