Shot extensively in Locarno for 65 days Asambhav marks comeback of Rajiv Rai as a producer, director. The film holds a special corner in Arjun Rampal's heart too because it features him as an action hero first time on screen.

The son of martyr Major V.G. Arya, Captain Aditya Arya (Arjun Rampal) is from the Indian Army's Paratrooper Regiment. He is a brave man, who is assigned a very sensitive undercover mission called 'Asambhav' by the Army.

His job is to rescue an Indian diplomat (Mohan Agashe) and his daughter Kinjal (Dippanita Sharma) abducted by Mabros (Shawar Ali) at the behest of Ansari (Milind Gunaji), a Pak General, within mere seventy-two hours.

While Ansari is mastermind of Kashmiri separatist struggle, Mabros is an international mercenary wanted in many countries.

The diplomat and his daughter are kept under siege at the Brissago Islands. The plan is to exchange diplomat with the international terrorist group Al-Hamas led by Yuzan (Mukesh Rishi), a flamboyant leader of the rebel group.

Unknown to Mabros, by sheer chance the situation is conveyed to army headquarters hence Captain Aaditya Arya is on prowl to evaluate the situation and to bring the diplomat back safely. To generate the $ 50 million for Yuzan to pay Mabros, Ansari enlist the help of Sam Hans (Naseeruddin Shah) and Brian (Tom Alter).

The duo in turn asks Dabral (Asif Zakaria) and his brother to con pop singer Alisha (Priyanka Chopra) and get her involved in the plan.

However, on their arrival at Locarno, Alisha's friend Shilpa is shot by Ansari and his men. Baffled and perplexed, Alisha runs to the Indian embassy for help. This is when Capt. Aaditya comes face to face with Alisha. He offers to help her in her predicament.

Capt. Aaditya is accompanied by Atul Bhatnagar (Jammel Khan) who being an intelligence officer is unaware about Aaditya's true identity or his mission. Arya along with Alisha and Atul poses as a Journalist to get to the core of the matter. He then finds out that there is something wrong within the embassy itself.

Parmar (Yashpal Sharma) is the security incharge at the Indian Embassy in Locarno. A friend to Sam Hans, his ulterior motive is to get the $50 million for himself. Thus the real battle is between Sam Hans, Ansari, the Mabros and Yuzan.

It's all about the money! This further complicates Aadit's mission as he has two tasks ahead of him: to rescue the diplomat and his daughter and to wipe off these international criminals.

The music of the film has been composed by Viju Shah, who seems to be Rajiv Rai's lucky mascot.
