Nair's Monsoon Wedding will be staged in the US while the stage rendition of Gurinder's Bend It Like Beckham is expected to start off in London sometime around early 2011.
Gurinder states that she isn't allowed to talk about it much but a stage version of Bend It Like Beckham seems exciting to her at this point of life. She has never done a play before and finds it challenging to take cinematic elements to stage. She believes she will be able to pull it off well. Kudos to Gurinder's confidence.
The stage version will have a cast entirely different from the film. Gurinder's reasons for it are that while a lot of the cast members of the film have moved on, there are also some cast members she would like to move away from. She reveals that she had a lot of trouble with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and when Woody Allen worked with him in Matchpoint, he wondered how Gurinder had managed Jonathan.
As of now, there are no details about the final cast of the stage version.
