Aamir Khan had initially disapproved of a spoof on "Lagaan", to be called "Thakaan", starring Johnny Lever as Aamir Khan.

Trade magazines have been carrying advertisements of the movie, keeping it in the news. It, however, never got the green signal until Sahara came in to produce the film.

Aamir did not initially give his nod to Sahara when it approached him. But at a recently held question and answer session with Aamir the topic was back in discussion.

"I don't particularly like spoofs and that's why I don't encourage the idea of making spoofs on people or movies," he said. A second later he added, "I know Johnny Lever is doing a spoof movie on my film which is ok, I don't think I have a problem with that."
