"I was shocked when Prakash ji approached me for 'Raajneeti'. I asked him if he'd seen any of my films and he was not confusing me with anyone else, " said Katrina, who has mostly done lighter roles and plays a politician in "Raajneeti".
The 25-year-old plays a character inspired from the epic Mahabharata's Draupadi in the upcoming political drama and considers it to be a big leap.
"This is a different step I'm taking forward (in films) and I hope people like it, " she added.
Also starring an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpai and Arjun Rampal, "Raajneeti" is releasing June 4.
