Ace designer Manish Malhotra says he was not instrumental in getting his nephew Punit his directorial debut "I Hate Luv Storys".

Rumours were doing the rounds that Manish had recommended Punit's name to Karan Johar to give him an opportunity to direct "I Hate Luv Storys" for his banner Dharma Productions.

Rubbishing the rumours, the designer told: "No. I only recommended the cast of the film to him."

Manish has designed the costumes for the film that also stars Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor.
