Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has been accused of rape and threat to life by a model.
Speaking to a leading daily , Bipin Kumar Singh, DCP, Mumbai, said the Chandni Bar director has been accused of rape by a model.
"She is a small time model and a struggling film actress. We have registered the case under section 376 and 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code," Singh said.
Singh added an FIR has been filed by the model at the Versova police station, against the director. The FIR also accuses Bhandarkar of threatening to kill the model.
"We will conduct the preliminary investigations and if required, arrest Bhandarkar," the DCP added.
He refused to divulge further details of the case saying that investigations were still on.
