A few days back, we reported that Aditya Narayan was to return to 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' to host the upcoming season of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstars'. However, as it turns out, it's not Aditya but VJ turned actor Purab Kohli, who'll host the new season.

A source closely associated with the show, had then cited Aditya's name as the host, while Daler Mehndi, Sajid-Wajid, and Vishal-Shekhar as judges. The same source had also given us confirmation on Farah Khan judging L'il Masters while Manish Paul hosting it.

"Till last week, Aditya's name was doing round as the host. Purab's name does come as a surprise. One doesn't know what transpired but Purab is now hosting the new season, " said the source.

"Aditya and few others were in consideration for hosting the new season. Purab coming on the board is a recent development. I believe, he must have been approached recently. This time around, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa will have a young and fresh look. The contestants too have to be in the age group of 16-28, " said a channel insider.

But isn't Aditya (22) much younger to Purab Kohli, who is married and must be around 30 years? Was cost a factor in picking Purab over Aditya?

"Aditya is younger but Purab isn't that old too. As said before, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa wanted to have a complete new and fresh look this time. Besides, Purab is a proven anchor, " the channel insider concluded.

We tried getting an official word from Zee TV head (non-fiction) Ashish Golwarkar, but he didn't' respond to our text message.
