"I am quite excited to play the role of a superhero in the film 'Doga', which is an Anurag Kashyap direction. That's one of the things I'm working on currently, " Kunal told.
"When I was offered the role, I thought I might not be the right choice for it, but then I accepted it, because it was very interesting, " he added.
Doga is the character of a comic book and is about Suraj, an orphan brought up by Daku Halkan Singh, who treated him like a dog. To seek revenge, Suraj adopted the alter ego of Doga, wearing a dog mask to hide his identity. He's a one-man army against organised crime.
It was also reported that the actor had to do some serious gyming to sport a bulkier body and look like a macho superhero. The film will be an out-and-out action thriller with high-end special effects.
The 34-year-old, who got recognition after his acclaimed performance in hit film "Rang De Basanti", went on to do films like "Laaga Chunari Mein Daag", "Aaja Nachle" and "Bachna Ae Haseeno" among others.
Now, Apart from "Doga", he is awaiting the release of his film on the lives of Kashmiris, "Lamha", and "Chamkila" being directed by Navdeep Singh.
"'Chamkila' is one film I'm looking forward to and 'Lamha' is also coming where I play a youth leader, " he added.
Kunal was also part of the promotional events for "Lamha", directed by Rahul Dholakia and also starring Bipasha Basu, at the ongoing International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend, here.
So what is his priority when he selects his roles?
"I like doing films that have much more to offer than just simple, plain entertainment, " he revealed.
