As BCCI battles to salvage its image post IPLgate, this is one battle that it wishes it could have to avoided. According to the reports, Colors has sent a legal notice accusing the Indian cricket board of failing to fulfill its
contractual obligations.
Back in January, Colors had proudly announced its association with the Indian Premier League for hosting a variety of programmes. Principal among them was a special edition of 'Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi'
featuring prominent Indian and international cricketers. Suspended IPL chairman & Commissioner Lalit Modi was present at this press conference as well.
Unfortunately, the partnership soured after the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) refused to give permission to its players fearing that the cricketers ran the risk of injury by participating in an adventure filled
show.
Reportedly, BCCI officials claim that Modi had signed this deal without keeping them informed. Top cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist
were tipped to be crowd pullers. Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra was named as the host.
According to sources, only injured Aussie paceman Brett Lee had signed up for the show. Officials from Colors remained unavailable for comment.
The ball has now passed into the BCCI's court. Let's see how the world's richest board reacts.
