However, the continued good run of 'Raajneeti' means that the two films are all set to be pushed down from the No. 1 spot with one clear winner - the Prakash Jha directed political thriller.
Meanwhile, Karan too isn't holding anything against Sajid and claims that he was never upset with him to begin with.
"I am not into the comparison game. Really, I will never compare. I don't know which film will eventually turn out to be the biggest of the year. However, I am glad that 'Housefull' has done well. Sajid is a friend and I don't have any issues with him", Karan sets the record straight.
However, till the release of 'Raajneeti', Sajid Khan had gone on record to state that his film 'Housefull' was the biggest of the year.
"I don't know about facts and figures of 'Housefull'", says Karan, "In any case, MNIK was way beyond mainstream. You can't compare it with any other film. You tell me, which other film of this genre has worked on such a huge scale as has been the case with MNIK?
'3 Idiots' did such a humungous business and it was a quintessential Bollywood film. On the other hand MNIK is a completely different film. Just like you can't compare 'A Beautiful Mind' with the 'Lord of the Rings', similarly you can't compare MNIK with '3 Idiots' or 'Housefull'."
Coming soon, is Karan's next production 'I Hate Luv Storys' which is carrying fantastic reports.
"I think it is nice that a film like 'I Hate Luv Storys' is arriving now", smiles Karan, "I have met a lot of the youngsters who believe that old fashioned love stories are a thing of the past. No wonder, there has been quite some time since we saw an iconic love story.
The last big one which the entire nation liked was 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. Before that it was 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' while in the recent times I can only think of 'Jab We Met' to some extent."
Well, it would be interesting to see if 'I Hate Luv Storys' also manages to join the big leagues and turns out to be an iconic love story indeed. Starring Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor in principal roles, IHLS releases all over on 2nd July.
