Rajeev Khandelwal, a.k.a Sujal of Kahiin Toh Hoga, achieved success with his maiden film Aamir. That opened new opportunities for him, but unfortunately, most of his upcoming projects are now either being shelved or are shrouded under clouds of uncertainty.
Khandelwal had shot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Chenab Gandhi, John Owen's Peter Gaya Kaam Se' and Vikram Tuli's Mera Naam Joker. Producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and director Vibhu differed over the choice of Rajeev.
The latter wasn't keen on taking Rajeev in the film. Both Joker and Peter Gaya Kaam Se are stuck in post-production stage. The actor had also signed director Tanuja Chandra's film that was to be produced by Maverick production.
Sadly, that project got shelved. He was also going to be part of the film Return Gift, but that project might just get shelved after the passing away of director Saurbah Narang.
"Few of his films have been scrapped while some are caught in post production hurdle - that's as good as being shelved. The problem that TV actors face is not a lack of talent but the not too many producers are willing to put money on them.
Rajeev is said to be frustrated at the way things are turning out. TV producers are ready to welcome him back but the actor isn't keen now. "In the end, he may not be left with any option but to return to TV, " an industry insider said.
Khandelwal remained unavailable for comment. If his films don't materialize, then Mr.Khandelwal will have to face the truth. Or should we say, 'Sach ka Saamna'!
