"I have no plans to direct a Malayalam film. I will continue to do the job I know the best and there will be no change in my profession, " Pookutty told reporters here.
Pookutty along with Richard Pryke and Ian Tapp won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing for "Slumdog Millionaire" last year.
This year he has been invited to be on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the roster of voting members. He is among 135 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures.
"This shows that Asian talent is getting wider recognition and that is a great achievement, " said Pookutty.
Pookutty, 37, who hails from Anchal, about 50 km from the state capital Thiruvananthapuram, is currently busy dubbing and mixing sound for "Endhiran", a Tamil science-fiction film directed by S. Shankar.
The film stars Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles.
