He was in town for a promotional event organised by Nemichand Bamalwa & Sons Jewellers in association with the Platinum Guild India.
"Movies are more performance oriented; in television however it all depends on the amount of work you can do, " said Sengupta.
Siding with him, wife Barkha Bisht Sengupta, a television actor herself, said, "Acting on TV is more physically draining; more about the hours indeed."
Having starred in popular television soaps like 'Doli Saja Ke' and 'Sajan Ghar Jaana Hai', she is now eyeing the silver screen and said Bollywood is a lot about luck.
Indraneil too has put his television career on hold and is looking to enter the celluloid world through Bengali movies.
"I have completed four Bengali movies including Buddhadeb Dasgupta's (director) 'Janala' and they are about to be released soon, " he told.
At the event, Indraneil gifted a diamond studded platinum ring to Barkha, who is 'not fond of the colour of the yellow metal'.
"Everybody expects something or the other on anniversaries and birthdays but I think I like it even more when there is no occasion and it's just for the love, " said a delighted Barkha.
"When I first met him on the sets of a serial, he was extremely quite and aloof; I thought he was a bit rude and snobbish, " said Barkha.
"But eventually I discovered he was just very shy and reserved. And that is what I liked most about him 'cause that was very unlike most men, " she added.
Indraneil said, "What I liked most about her is that she is extremely honest and straightforward; there is nothing held back about her."
The couple, who tied the knot in March 2008, said this was an occasion to 'rediscover the love.'
