Litle-known fact: Before making it big in B-Town, Aamir Khan worked as an assistant for a Gujarati play. The actor revisited those roots during the casting of debutante director Anusha Rizvi's Peepli Live, which has an all-stage cast. Everyone -- except Raghubir Yadav -- are newbie actors making the transition to the big screen.
The cast has been selected from among the graduates of the late Habib Tanvir's Naya Theatre. A source from Peepli Live says, "Its an all new cast. Aamir attended the casting along with Anusha and selected the guys. He was very keen on having fresh faces. All the actors have graduated from Naya Theatre and come from the interiors of Madhya Pradesh."
It was an emotional moment for Aamir to work with an ensemble cast with a theatre background. "He's extremely attached to Peepli Live as it involves theatre actors. When he met them, AK narrated his own experiences of working backstage and being an assistant," reveals the source.
Excited with the response to two recently released promos, Aamir is now working with his team on drawing a strong marketing strategy for the film.
