The normally reclusive Ajay Devgn who is playing a gangster in his next release, Ekta Kapoor's Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, is so charged about his film that he has agreed to go on an inter-city tour across nine Indian cities to promote it. This is the first time that he is taking on a promotional tour of this scale.
Ajay Devgn says, "I am extremely excited about the film. The music has caught on and there's a very good buzz about the film so I thought I should also go all out and promote it the best way I can. This will be the first time I will be travelling to nine cities to promote a film."
Before Raajneeti released, he was not able to promote the film, as he was shooting for Golmaal 3 at the same time. But for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, he kept his date diary free.
Ajay adds, "This time I planned it in such a way that I am completely free to promote Ekta's film. I have given 10 days for it and even cancelled some of my shoots so I can travel wherever they want me to go!"
Vivek Malhotra, CEO, Balaji Telefilms, confirms, "Ajay was convinced about our marketing strategy. He asked intelligent, relevant questions about the concept, and once he was convinced, he assured us of his whole -hearted support.
Besides Ajay, we are also taking Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut and Prachi Desai across 14 cities including Ranchi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jaipur apart from the metros Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai according to their schedules."
Going back in time
The film's team will engage with fans across the country. Malls will have themes which salute the '70s and have vintage cars in their parking space. Theatre ushers will be dressed in retro gear.
There will be contests where participants will be given tickets with half an image. If the image matches the one on the ticket given at the refreshment counter, they can win lots of prizes.
