It all apparently began not very long ago when Karan went to interview Aamir at his Bandra residence for a popular lifestyle magazine and Aamir's wit and diplomacy won over one of the closest friends of his arch rival Shah Rukh.
A rift between Shah Rukh and Karan too seems pronounced as ever as they make fewer appearances together yet Karan and Aamir seem to be happily turning up for each other's parties.
A close acquaintance of the two revealed to a newspaper recently that duo have been actively exchanging communication and party invitations, including ones for the recent private party for Argentine music composer Gustavo Santaolalla by Aamir and Karan's party for I Hate Luv Storys.
Reportedly, Aamir was the only one outside the cast, which includes his nephew Imran Khan, and crew, to be invited and that too after Karan personally called up Aamir, who is known for his inaccessibility.
There is also a buzz that the two might be working on a project together - something which is quite startling to those who have been used to see the closeness of KJo and the the King Khan.
Karan Johar's presence was conspicuous at the recently held music release of Aamir's latest production venture Peepli Live, Karan Johar where he said he would definitely like to work with Aamir.
One blogger notes, "First it was Bachchan, now it is Karan Johar; perhaps Aamir is strategically driving Shah Rukh Khan friendless? The secret lies within a mind touted to be one of Bollywood's cleverest - one that took his first film as a producer to the Oscar nomination list."
