Model-turned-anchor Bipasa Basu has finally been noticed by dream merchants from the Hindi film world. The leggy lass, born in Delhi of an engineer father, had spent her formative year in Calcutta before coming to Bombay. Modeling, which first brought this Bengali beauty to the limelight, was soon followed by a few music videos that made her a familiar name among the industry stalwarts.
The dream-makers of Bollywood noticed the good work in music videos and a number of commercials and her attractive looks. One fine day she got call from producer Vijay Gelani who wanted her to meet noted director duo Abbas-Mastan. "I was apprehensive in the beginning since they are known as big people of Bollywood," she remembers, "but the meeting went well and I got the role in Ajnabee."
Instead of revealing her role in Ajnabee, which marks her debut in Bollywood, Bipasa prefers to describe it as "misty". But she doesn`t mind sharing the experiences she had during the making of this film. For instance, how choreographer Ganesh Hegde made her imitate all those filmi jhatka and matka. Or her experience of working with two most sought-after heroes like Akshay Kumar and Bobby Deol. Or her alleged off-screen showdown with Bollywood`s hottest babe Kareena Kapoor. Or even the experience she had in a Telugu movie.
