The Munnabhai director has recently been put at numero uno on Bollywood power list of directors by Filmfare magazine.
Asked about the hoopla surrounding which star he is about to cast for his next project, superstar Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan, the 44-year-old director told The Times of India, even though he considered Aamir the best, he had to write a script before casting the lead man.
Meanwhile on being voted the industry's best director, Hirani said he is not taking the number very seriously since he believes this title comes to him only because of 3 Idiots, the film that raked in close to a mammoth 5 billion Rupees.
"Just because I have three good films behind me, it doesn't make me all-powerful. I have to still strive to give my best to whatever I undertake. A filmmaker is only as good as his last film, " the director told the paper.
Also after making the most commercially successful film in Bollywood history, is Raju Hirani's next really based on 300 gods? The director dismisses the news.
Reports had appeared in popular media recently that apparently the ace director's next script titled 'Hey Bhagwan' is based on 300 Gods and that his favourite scriptwriter, Abhijat Joshi, had 'loved' the idea and the duo were working on the script somewhere in America.
"We have 33 crore Gods, '' he says, "Why would I choose 300 of those?" said the director.
The director however confirms that he is working on a script for a movie based on religion but they (him and Joshi) have just got a 'fix on the idea' and the script is yet to be written.
Also, much to the joy of Munnabhai fans, who had given up hope on the third installment of the extremely popular series, Hirani confirmed that he was indeed working on the script of a Munnabhai film.
