RGV has done movies involving psychological thrillers, underworld gang conflict, politician-criminal nexus and even musicals, exploded against musicians accusing them of burying the music in the Southern part of India.
According to a buzz, the maverick moviemaker was responding to future actor Rana's remark about Ilayaraja's expressive music in the film Chinarayudu. According to a leading website, Ram Gopal Varma said that people like A. R. Rahman, Mani Sharma, Keeravani, and Devi Sri Prasad had collectively killed music in the films.
Ironically, it was RGV who had introduced Rahman to Bollywood and gave him a scope to score music for the superhit Rangeela. He also added that with the exception of Ilayaraja, all these music directors had put stress on sound and not music.
