Kajol turns a year older on Thursday (August 5). Her folks have planned the traditional dhole ceremony to coincide with the actress' birthday. The Maharashtrian ceremony, (the equivalent of a godh bharai ceremony), is conducted to mark the seventh month of a woman's pregnancy. Her mom Tanuja and sister Tanishaa felt it was apt to have a double celebration on the day.
The ceremony will be followed by a traditional lunch with only family members in attendance. As Tanuja is a Maharashtrian, both the sisters follow a lot of the customs.
Custom and cake
Says Tanishaa, "Mom has planned a puja and will gift her a saree as is the custom. She will also be preparing food for Kads that is part of the ritual.
We will follow all the customs attached to the dhole ceremony. All of us will be attired in traditional wear."
Another round of celebrations will follow later with a cake cutting for Ajay Devgn's wife. "I plan to bake a huge fruit cake for Kads."
The evening will be spent at home with family. "For us, birthdays mean spending time at home with dear ones."
Gift from Greece
Tanishaa, who was in Greece recently for a friend's wedding, has already bought a present for her sister. "I picked up this funky necklace with lava rocks for her. But I keep on giving her gifts, I don't wait for a occasion."
For Tich, as she is called, Kajol is forever young. "She is my elder sister but she will always remain a young girl for me."
She recollects when they were younger, their mother would organise elaborate birthday parties for them. A lot of planning would go into the cake and what it would be like. "We would have great discussions about its shape and get exactly what we wanted, " said Tanishaa.
