The recent disaster in Ladakh has forced Deepika Padukone to cancel her proposed holiday to the scenic mountainous region. Nature unleashed its fury in the region last week, with cloudbursts causing flash floods and wreaking havoc in the area.
The actress was to take off for a break with friends immediately after the release of her film Lafangey Parindey. Actress Shahana Goswami (her Break Ke Baad co-star) and a school friend were to accompany her.
She had zeroed in on the northernmost tip of the nation as she wanted to switch off from the rest of the world for a while. The star had told her pals that she wanted "to be out of the cellphone network."
Dippy and her buddies were slated to leave around August 22 for about a week. The gang had earmarked several spots -- including Leh -- to visit in the mountains.
Says Deepika, "This is the third time my trip to Ladakh has been cancelled. The first time, I had some sudden shoot commitments. Then, Adi rescheduled the release of Lafangey Parindey. And now, when I had thought it was finally on, disaster struck. I was keen to visit as I have never been there but have heard a lot about its beauty."
