On the other hand they sometimes choose to keep low even when they have a good film (Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year) and actor (Ranbir Kapoor) in hand.
One doesn't quite know as of now to which extreme does 'Lafangey Parindey' fits in but the fact remains that this Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone starrer is yet another instance of a Yash Raj film not being promoted optimally.
For a film that boasts of a good plot (a street fighter coming together with a blind young woman), 'Lafangey Parindey' would surely have quite a few promotional angles to procure.
However, one wonders whether Aditya Chopra and Co. have decided to go low for this film mainly due to director Pradeep Sarkar coming with 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag' behind him which was a critical and commercial failure.
If that's the case, it would be strange since Neil has done well in both of his last outings - 'Jail' and 'New York', while Deepika comes with a hit (Housefull) behind her.
Whatever be the case, the fact remains that 'Lafangey Parindey' hasn't been hyped to the fullest and that would reflect in it's opening which is expected to be in the 50% range.
The sole reason for 'Lafangey Parindey' to rejoice is the fact that there is no competition whatsoever on its arrival. 'And Once Again', the Amol Palekar film, was post poned at the last minute last week and would now be arriving alongside 'Lafangey Parindey'.
There is also a C grade film called 'Kis Hudh Tak' which is seeing a selective release on the same day. No wonder, none of these two films would be the cause of worry here for 'Lafangey Parindey'.
