In Vidarbha, a few peasants' families have raised their voice against the screening of the movie as they reasoned that the movie has not depicted the farmers' plight from correct perspectives.

A hand pump, gifted to the protagonist in the movie, has been referred to as Lal Bahadur. It has drawn severe criticism from two members of the CBFC panel. Moreover, some did not like way the media has been presented in the film.
