The team has cancelled overseas promotions

Salman Khan and the Dabangg team have cancelled the film's promotional events in the UK and the US earlier this week. It seems to be a wise move as the film has a rustic feel and promoting it within the country would garner more benefits. And this Khan starrer isn't really NRI-friendly.

It is learnt that plans were changed last minute due to visa problems which producer Arbaaz Khan confirms, "We did have a problem with some of the visas. Some of the people travelling with us were first-time visa applicants.

Obtaining permission for them to travel was taking longer than we had thought. So we decided to cancel our plans abroad." Now the film will be heavily promoted in cities all across the country.

A setback
Sonu Sood who plays the main villain Chhedi Pandey and who's in Washington with his sister for Raksha Bandhan says, "I don't know what happened. I just got call saying the events in the UK and US are off."

An insider from the film adds, "Considering that Dabangg exudes a strong and pungent regional colloquial flavour, promoting the film to Salman's fans abroad as a somewhat different kind of entertainer was very important. Not being able to go for promotion abroad is a setback."

On a happier note there are plans to continue the exploits and adventures of Salman Khan's Chulbul Pandey in a sequel. There maybe also a comic book series on Chulbul.

Sequel, an exciting idea
Arbaaz does not deny plans of a sequel, "It's an exciting idea. Will let you know if and when it actually happens. It all depends on how the film is received at the box-office. If it's huge hit like we expect it to be, then why not?"

However sources close to the actor say that he has taken a shine to his character Chulbul Pandey and will take it forward into another film no matter what the outcome of Dabangg is at the box-office. Apparently, he has even chosen the title Chulbul for the sequel.
