Actress-writer Tara Deshpande was David Dhawan's first choice for the role which went to beautiful Rambha in Kyonki Main Jhooth Nahin Bolta. Grapevine has it that the sexy Deshpande was signed with Govinda and Sushmita Sen for this film, which is being produced by Balaji Telefilms. Soon after signing, Deshpande went off to the USA.

So when David decided to shoot he found Deshpande missing. He tried to contact her many times, but did not know where she was. After waiting long enough he ran out of patience. So Dhawan decided to replace her and offered the role to Rambha, who gladly accepted it.
