Mana, along with her siblings Rahul Kadri and Isha Mehra and organiser Sharmila Khanna, has invited designers like Maheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari, Tarun Tahiliani, Surily Goel, Seema Khan, and Pria Kataria Puri, among others, to set up stalls at The Grand hotel here Wednesday.
Though the event has been taking place in Mumbai and other cities since the past three years, it is making its debut in the capital this time, and Mana is confident that she will get a good response.
"I hope we can get as many people as we can get in. It will make a difference if we have the buzz and the crowd. It will create a lot of positive energy," Mana told.
Save The Children Foundation was created by Mana's mother in 1988.
"My mother started her NGO out of sheer passion and commitment. Suniel and I have always been involved with it but in a quieter way. In fact Suniel has always been more involved with it. He has been the brand ambassador of Save The Children. I was always behind the scenes. But after my mother's death, I thought I must take her dream forward. I didn't want her passion to die. So my siblings Isha and Rahul also joined in," she added.
It will be the 11th edition of Araaish to be held in India. The exhibition, which has earlier taken place in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai, began as a tribute to Mana's mother when she died three and a half years back.
"We realised the responsibility and the amount of work we had to do to raise so much money for the organisation. Besides raising the money, I wanted the awareness for Save The Children to go out. Ever since the launch, we have been doing well and get great donations, lots of people volunteer and send grains and food for the children," said Mana.
She hopes to add one city every year and expand the scale of the fundraiser event. Her celebrity husband Suniel too will be marking his presence at the event.
