Superstar Mammootty was busy doing what he knows best on his birthday. He was shooting for his upcoming film "Best Actor" as he turned 57 Tuesday.

"There were no celebrations this birthday. It is the fasting month of Ramadan so only two things will happen - work and prayers, " he told.

"In my home it was just like any other day. As it is the fasting month, the customary cutting of cake on the shooting sets did not take place. Now for breaking the fast, I will be home and there would be nothing special. No parties or get together, " Mammootty said.

A Padma Shri winner, Mammootty said his daughter and son called up to wish him.

In a career spanning more than three decades, Mammootty has acted in more than 300 films which include English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. He has won three National Awards, seven State Awards and 10 Filmfare Awards.

He continues to have a glorious career as his recent films have all been blockbusters. Later this week, his film "Pranchiettan and the Saint" is expected to hit theatres.
