Salman Khan was the star attraction at Sajid Nadiadwala's son's birthday party

Salman Khan was good to his word and attended best friend Sajid Nadiadwala's elder son, Subhaan's birthday. Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor, the stars of the producer's next Anjaana Anjaani, however, could n't make it to the bash.

Stuck at work

Sajid's wife Wardha explains the absence, "Ranbir and Priyanka got stuck shooting for a TV show in Film City. When we reached home after the party, we saw that Priyanka had sent cute gifts for Subhaan -- a big remote controlled helicopter and a Hummer car. She even left a note for him saying, 'Subhaan, you are my first husband and I am so sorry that I couldn't come as I was stuck at work."

Wardha adds, "It was so sweet of Salman to come for the party and stay for almost an hour. The minute he walked in, all the kids went mad! They didn't leave him for a minute. It was very sporting of him to put on a fake moustache.

He loves Subhaan and when I invited him for the party he immediately agreed. And though the theme was a 'cowboy' one a la Wanted, Salman wanted him dressed as Chulbul Pandey."

There were bungee simulations and a trampoline for kids to jump on. There was even a mechanical bull to ride on.

Goodies galore

Take-home gifts included personalised backpacks with the kids' names on them, cowboy hats (in pink for the girls and blue for the boys), Toy Story 3 goodie bags, giant-sized Wanted posters and Dabangg merchandise like Robinhood Pandey shades and watches.

Adds Subhaan's mom, "My son said that he'd cut his cake only if chachu (Salman) comes."

Akshay Kumar (he was shooting for MasterChef) and his wife Twinkle Khanna were noticeably absent -- maybe because PC was to make an appearance and Akki and Tina wanted to avoid any awkward moments. Their son Aarav, however, came for the party and was seen enjoying himself as was Zayed Khan's two sons (accompanied by their mom, Malaika).

The food at the party ranged from different types of cuisine to pastas, pav bhajis, sandwiches, chicken frankies and lollypops. Malaika Arora (Dabangg's Munni) made an appearance with her son Arhaan while Farah Khan's triplets, Diva, Anya and Czar came minus their mom.
