Bollywood queen Rani Mukherjee is likely to be seen in a Bengali film titled Africa. Two-time National Award winning filmmaker Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury has reportedly approached the actress with the project and she is most likely to sign it.

If Rani agrees to sign the project then it will be her first full-fledged Bengali film. She was seen in a Bengali film called Biyer Phool in 1992, which was directed by her father Ram Mukherjee. But it was not that significant because she did not have a full- length role in the film.

A source was quoted saying that the director had met Rani in Mumbai and narrated the story to her. Rani was reportedly excited and asked Aniruddha to come to Mumbai again after completing the script.

On the other hand, the Bengali filmmaker has also met actress Rituparna Sengupta, who is thinking that she is doing the film.

As per the source, Aniruddha will be in Mumbai again in the next couple of days to meet Rani with the finalized script.

Africa is said to be a female-centric movie and if Rani comes on board then she will be playing the lead role.

The filmmaker has confirmed the news saying that he had met Rani but nothing has been confirmed yet. He added that he is still working on the script and it will be too early to discuss about it. However, he said that Rani is one of his favorite actresses and he would love to work with her.

Well, Rani was missing from action after the release of her film Dil Bole Hadippa in 2009. Her Bollywood career does not seem go further ahead so it will be a wise decision if she signs the Bengali film to make her presence felt in the industry!
