Diwali is around the corner and so is the biggie from the prestigious Yash Raj banner.

Veer-Zaara is a romantic tale of an Indian man, Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan) and a Pakistani woman, Zaara Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta) - a story of a love so great that it knows no boundaries. For them, love is the only religion.

It all starts when Zaara comes to India to immerse her caretaker's ashes, who has brought her up with love, in the Ganga. Her parents don't know about this. Despite the initial quarrels, Veer and Zaara become good friends and eventually, fall in love.

Veer also takes Zaara to Punjab and from there, accompanies her back to the border where they meet Zaara's fiancé (Manoj Bajpai).

But for some reason, Pakistani police arrests Veer. He chooses to remain silent. This is when a a Pakistani lawyer and human right activist Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukherjee) comes to his rescue and tries to break the barriers separating the two.

What happens after that? Will Veer be able to survive this? Will Saamiya be able to help Veer in this case? Will she be able to bring Veer and Zaara together?

Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini also lend their benign presence in the guest roles. They play Veer's grandparents.

Extensively shot in the northern Indian planes Veer-Zaara is an ambitious project for Mr. Yash Chopra. The music of the film is historic on several counts.

Yash Chopra has launched his own music label, Yash Raj Music, with this premium product and it also brings the unused melodies of late composing maestro Madan Mohan to today's listeners.

Recreated by his son Sanjeev Kohli, it features singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Gurdas Mann, Roop Kumar Rathod, Ahmed Hussain and Mohammed Hussain.
