Raj Babbar steps onto the floorboards after nearly 30 years at the insistence of his son Aarya who will direct him in Gorky+Tinku Ke Kaarname Crazypanti Ka Thriller, a play he has penned.
The play premieres November 10 at Prithvi theatre, Mumbai.
"I told dad that only he could essay the character and that I had written it with him in mind. That was enough to convince him, " says Babbar Jr, who also features in the drama.
Though Raj's wife Nadira runs the Ekjute theatre troupe along with daughter Juhi, he preferred to watch from the sidelines.
"Now that he has agreed to act it has become a family affair as mom is part of the production, didi (Juhi) is doing the costumes while I am directing, " notes Babbar's son.
Plans are also on to have a red carpet event for the play with several B-Town folk. "At the moment we are rehearsing like crazy!" says Aarya.

Gorky is Aarya's pet name. That's the reason why it is in the title.
The plot revolves around two wannabe detectives out to save a girl who is going to be killed by a witch. "The duo is on a haunted, mad trip. It is total masala fare with a 100-year-old witch. But the setting is very contemporary."
Gorky+ Tinku Ke Kaarname Crazypanti Ka Thriller is also the first production of Performers, a new group of Ekjute that will stage fresh productions with the troupe members.
