The Akrosh girl will reportedly play a very important role in the film, which will be directed by Roland Joffe. Abhay's role is not confirmed yet. Joffe has earlier directed films like 'The Killing Fields' and 'City of Joy'.
The actress flew to Brisbane recently to start shooting for first schedule of the movie. Speaking about getting the offer, Bips said that a month ago, she bumped into the director at Taj in Bandra.
Bipasha added that she could hardly greet her as she had to attend a meeting but surprisingly she received a call from the director, who said her that she liked her voice and wanted to cast her in the film.
However, Bipasha has not signed the movie so easily. Unlike other Bollywood actors, who are excited doing small roles in international films, she wanted an important role in her international debut. The actress claimed that she will be playing one of the lead actors in 'Singularity'. The film was launched three years back as 'The Invaders' but since the script has undergone a lot of changes.
It is a historical romantic film with backdrop of the first Anglo-Maratha war during the 18th century. The film is set across two continents and two time periods. The story will involve a British officer and his Indian lover in colonial India as well as an American marine biologist and his lover. The researcher gets trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship.
The film is likely to release in 2011 and the shooting will be done extensively in Australia and India.
