Sajid Nadiadwala won't be making the movie adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's bestselling novel, 2 States just yet.
In fact, he isn't even sure if he would like to produce the film at all. He also feels that the director attached to the project, Siddharth Anand is free to work with an outside banner, if he wants to.
As reported earlier (Stalemate over 2 States, October 10), the two locked horns over whom they wanted to cast as the female lead.
While the producer favours Deepika, the director has verbally committed to Priyanka. The producer, director and PC did their last film Anjaana Anjaani together.
Too busy
Says Nadiadwala, "I have the rights to Chetan's book. But I won't make the film till 2012. I am not making any film with Siddharth next year. At the moment, my hands are full with three projects that will take up all my time Housefull 2, Salman's Kick and Sabbir's next with Shahid."
He reiterates that there is no fall out with Anand. "It's just that we haven't yet finalised any script and without that, the project can't take off. Moreover, I leave the decision of who should direct my film to Chetan since it's his book.
I feel he would be the best person to make a decision on who should make 2 States."
Does that mean he would let go of the project if required? "Yes, if Chetan feels that Siddharth should direct the film with another producer I would be okay with it.
Finally it would be his call not mine. But at the moment, I don't have any film on the floor with Sid."
