Tusshar Kapoor turned 34 over the weekend and brought in his birthday on the set of his film Hum Tum Aur Shabana. It was a working birthday for the actor who was in for a surprise.
His staff got him a cake and also bought him presents. Tusshar says it's a double celebration for him as his last release Golmaal 3 did excellent business.
In good spirits
He says, "I have more than just one reason to celebrate. Golmaal has done really well and since my birthday came on the heels of its success I feel doubly excited. Sometimes, when a film doesn't do well you feel low and don't feel like doing anything festive. But this year, I was in really good spirits on my birthday."
Even though he was working his make-up man Nilesh and driver Ashok made sure there was enough celebration on the set. "I didn't even know these guys were planning something. It was a big surprise. I have been shooting in Bhandup for Sagar's film, so it was just a regular day for me on set.
But I didn't know these guys would actually get a cake and also buy me gifts. It's really touching coming from my staff because these guys are with me all the time. They are actually like extended family to me. Even my squash trainer Shabbir gave me a handmade Ganpati which was beautiful and sweet."
Last year, his parents gifted him a car. This time his sister Ekta has decided to come up with something unique. "She plans to give me seven different things over a span of seven days. I think it's a different idea and am curious to know what she's going to gift. She has this plan of gifting me something one day over a week."
Wish fulfilled
Does he have any birthday wish? "I already got my wish when I travelled to New York with Ekta for the screening of Shorr. We got a tremendous response and it also won the best directors film.
I will be getting around 15 days of leave once I finish this schedule of my shoot. It would be the longest break I've had this year and am looking forward to just unwinding and relaxing."
