Jackie Shroff's wife's mother suffers a stroke

Ayesha Jackie Shroff's mom Claudia Dutt is in Leelavati hospital after suffering a stroke on Thursday morning. She's in the ICU and her condition is said to be critical. Claudia, 81, lives in Belgium but has been in India for the last two years.

The concerned daughter says, "She's critical and is on life support. She's being constantly monitored. My mom is a strong lady and despite her age she's been very active. Her stroke was a big setback to all of us."

Counting blessings

Jackie's wife is counting her blessings that the attack didn't happen when her mother was in Europe. Shroff adds, "She usually comes down to India during the winters.

She had her first stroke two years ago and the doctor had strictly advised her not to travel anywhere. I am glad we were around to take care of her when it happened. I can't imagine what would have happened had she been in Europe."

She adds, "Mom was having lunch with some friends when she complained of feeling uneasy. We straightaway called the doctor as Leelavati is right next to our house. By the time she got admitted, mom had already lost consciousness."

The family is hoping she recovers soon, "The doctors are doing the best they can."
