Bipasha Basu had five flops in a row.
'Ishq Hai Tumse', 'Aetbaar', 'Rudraksh', 'Rakht' and now 'Madhoshi'; each of her film has been falling at the box-office like nine pins. Extremely worried, when we caught up the lady in question, she was at ease with herself as ever.
In her usual candour she says, "I've already proved myself as an actor in my four years here. People still want to see me and I still feel the buzz about me the moment I step out of the house."
But what went wrong Bips? Has the original modern seductress of Bollywood really lost her touch in all these years?
"I don't think so that I'm the only sex-symbol in the industry. These days, every girl is a sex symbol. I enjoyed it once when people started calling me so but now the tag doesn't make sense. You should understand one thing this industry is a gamble. When you are in it, you should just chill.''
In her effort to explore the new horizons the Bengali lass has signed a Buddhadeb Dasgupta's film with Mithun Chakraborty in the lead, titled ‘America America', where she plays Rahul Bose's wife. Bose replaces Prosenjit, Mithun's son, in the film.
"I never wanted to do a Bengali film just for the sake of doing it. I wanted to do a film where my character has multiple shades. The role that has been offered to me is multi-layered. When I was young, I freaked out on Mithun. I'd love to do a film with him where he essays a role like the one he did in Titli," she divulges.
Bipasha has also signed up Mira Nair's next project for Karan Johar Films, 'Namesake', after Rani Mukherjee refused it. She'll be playing Ashima's daughter-in-law, Moushumi, in this adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri's work.
