In a statement to the media, the actor says that he has been aware of the problem affecting the lives of many kids in this country for many years now, but did not get a better platform before to speak about malnutrition before, which according to him affects one in every two children in India.
Aamir Khan has joined hands with the Citizens' Alliance to speak out against child hunger.
This makes the Bollywood actor the face of the Citizens' Alliance's print and TV advertisements through which he will try to create awareness among the rural population in India regarding their right to basic nutrition.
Speaking to the media, Aamir Khan says that the poor and illiterate masses in the country are not even aware of the fact that they are entitled to obtain free nutrients from anganwadis in their respective villages. Therefore Aamir Khan will work towards making this section of the society aware of their basic rights to nutrition and it is in this way that India will have less malnourished children.
The Citizens' Alliance includes members from different political parties and ministers like Sachin Pilot, Supriya Sule and Shahnawaz Hussain.
However this does not mean that Aamir Khan is also joining hands with a particular political party to make his voice heard. The actor rubbishes claims of his joining politics and says that it is the nature of the work which inspired him to be a part of the Citizens' Alliance.
