I BOUGHT A DADDY: I still have distinct memories of this French film and I hope I have recalled the title right. It was during Doordarshan's black-and-white days in the 1970s when they used to screen foreign films.

It was about this kid and a single mother. The child would keep visiting this store that had mannequins. One of the male mannequins was her 'daddy'. The movie was extremely touching and I used to feel sad for that kid in the movie.

DAVID COPPERFIELD: Based on Charles Dickens's novel, it is a coming-of-age saga about kids and their problems. This was yet another English film I still have memories about. It was a classic literary book and a delight to watch every character unfold on the big screen.

CARAVAN: My uncle Nasir Hussain's movie and the first movie I saw on a 16mm projector. Filmmakers Ram Dayal and Raj Khosla used to stay in the same building where we stay.

In fact, the home I currently live in belonged to Raj Khosla previously. Ram Dayal used to organise screenings for all of us in the building itself. There was this fascination watching a movie from a projector. The film was a huge hit along with its chartbusting tracks like Goriya Kahan Tera Desh Re!

MERA GAON MERA DESH: This was Raj Khosla's movie and it was Dharmendra all the way. It was also yet another of the building screenings. It was great fun watching this movie about a good man and a bad man.

HALF TICKET: I remember cracking up while watching this movie. Kishore Kumar was hilarious and the story had one funny twist after another. Just when you thought he had solved his problem, another popped up. How he solved it in his own inimitable way -- we kids could never stop laughing while watching it.
