Hulchul is the story of two families. The first family is headed by the hot tempered Angaarchand (Amrish Puri). They reside in a small town called Matkapur.
Angaarchand and his four sons (Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Arbaaz Khan and Akshaye Khanna ) have had bad luck with women and thus, they all vows to stay away from them.
Lakshmidevi (Lakshmi) is a landlady of Anpura village. This fierce lady's only motive in life is to take revenge on Angaarchand. She has three sons (Akhilendra Mishra, Deep Dhillon, Suniel Shetty) and a granddaughter Anjali (Kareena Kapoor).
Full of pride, Lakshmidevi is very fond of Anjali, but doesn't hesitate in using her as a weapon to take revenge on Angaarchand's family.
The trouble starts when Angaarchand's youngest son, Jai (Akshaye Khanna), and Anjali (Kareena Kapoor), end up at the same college. But the poor chap doesn't know that Anjali has an ulterior motive.
She has been sent by her family to seduce this young turk from the Angaarchand clan. If she succeeds in her devious scheme, the Angaarchand vow will be broken.
But Jai is a smart guy. He ropes in his brings his best friend, Lucky (Arshad Warsi) to spices up the whole proceedings. And as the luck would have it, Anjali seriously falls in love with Jai making it more difficult for the warring families.
What follows is a series of deceitful but hilarious mishaps as the young couple try to convince their families.
Will the director Priyadarshan be able to recreate the success of 'Hera Pheri' and 'Hungama' with 'Hulchul', one will have to wait and watch.
